The public is invited to an old-fashioned, family-fun celebration of Independence Day at the annual Rim Area Neighborhood Association Parade followed by patriotic festivities in Tom Lea Upper Park on Rim.
Wear your most patriotic costumes. Decorate your cars, your bikes, even your pets! This is a fun event the whole family can enjoy, whether you choose to join in the parade or simply cheer from the sidelines.
Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should join the line at Rim and Brown/Kerbey on July 4 by 9:45 a.m. That will also be where face painting and bike decorating will be happening starting at 9 a.m.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and go down Rim Road to the Tom Lea Upper Park. The 2018 parade grand marshall is Robert Moore, former El Paso Times editor.
The parade will be followed by ice cream and festivities in the park.
Party favors will be awarded in several costume categories including:
Best costume – family
Best costume – boys; girls
Best decoration – bikes, scooters, wagons
Best costume – pets
